West Quarry Cottage was rescued from near dereliction in the 1990s and has recently undergone a complete renovation, transforming it into an oasis of calm in the picturesque Perthshire countryside.

This charming retreat sits on the edge of the renowned Bamff Wildland rewilding estate, famed for its natural grazing, wetlands and reintroduced beaver population.

The cottage offers comfortable accommodation with two double bedrooms, featuring flexible king size double or single bed combinations to suit your needs.

The upstairs bathroom includes both a shower and bath, while downstairs you’ll find a spacious lounge and dining area warmed by a cozy wood-burning stove.

The newly fitted modern kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need, including a dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, fridge freezer, tumble dryer and microwave.

For your comfort, the cottage features oil fired central heating throughout, and all linen and towels are provided.

Stay connected with 4G broadband, and enjoy the spectacular views across the farm from the large dog-friendly garden (dogs must be kept on lead).

Perfect for nature-loving families or couples, the surrounding area provides endless opportunities for outdoor adventure.

The Cateran Trail runs through the farm itself, offering magnificent hillwalking opportunities right from your doorstep.

Just 35 minutes away, The Glenshee Ski Centre provides some of Scotland’s finest skiing, while the local area is ideal for mountain biking, kayaking and fishing.

The cottage’s location strikes an ideal balance between rural tranquility and convenience. The picturesque towns of Alyth and Blairgowrie are nearby, offering local shops, pubs, restaurants and amenities.

For city attractions and shopping, both Dundee and Perth are within easy reach at 30 and 40 minutes’ drive respectively.

Wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted by the regular visitors to the area. Red deer can often be spotted in the surroundings, while buzzards and kites soar overhead.

In the summer months, swallows make their nests at the cottages, and as evening falls, bats can be seen swooping through the twilight. And of course, our friendly sheep are always nearby, completing the pastoral scene.

Are the cottages dog friendly?

Yes, well behaved dogs are always welcome. It is a working sheep farm though so preferably dogs should be kept on a lead.

Are electricity and heating oil included?

Yes, both are included in the price of your stay.

Can I smoke in the cottages?

No sorry, the cottages are no smoking and the use of candles is also not allowed.

Is there a wood burning stove?

Yes, a new wood burning stove has been fitted in each cottage and logs are supplied in the log store at the front of East Quarry Cottage and out the back of West.

Is there free parking?

Yes, each cottage has ample free parking out the front of each property.

Is there an iron and ironing board?

Yes, you’ll find these in the kitchen.

Do the cottages have WiFi?

Yes indeed, both cottages have fast 4G broadband routers which mean you can watch Netflix on the TV, use the internet or play games.

Do the cottages have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors?

Yes, both cottages have been recently refurbished and all this equipment in brand new.

Are there fire extinguishers and fire blankets?

Yes, in the kitchens.

What should I do in the event of a fire?

The two fire escapes in each property are the front and back doors. They are always kept clear and available for use, and are checked regularly.

In the event of a fire, guests should exit the property by the front or back door (whichever is safest), and assemble on the front drive away from the building. Despite being a rural location, 4G coverage is good outside the cottages for making emergency 999 calls.

Is there a fridge and deep freeze?

Yes, each kitchen has a large fridge freezer.

Is there a washing machine and tumble dryer?

Yes, both cottages have new washing machines, tumble dryers and drying racks.

Is there a dishwasher?

Yes, bot kitchens have dishwashers.

Is the track to the cottages rough?

Yes, while the first half of the road to the cottages is black top – it is a working farm road so there are a few minor pot holes. The second part of the road through the farm steading and down to the cottages is a rough farm track so it would be good to have a 4 wheel drive or a vehicle with decent clearance. A low sports car or similar would not be suitable.

Do the cottages have gardens?

Yes, both cottages have large gardens with lovely views.
